The Peepeth ether.card for Devcon

A week or so ago, just after the Peepeth community fundraiser came to an end, several people commented that it was sad that such a promising project did not raise more, so we at Akomba came up with the idea of a Devcon collectible, a numbered souvenir ether card specially for the purposes of raising a few more ether for Peepeth.

We produced a batch of 100 ether cards numbered from 0 to 99 (to remind us all that it’s not only lifts in Prague that start at zero) which we are selling for 1 ether each.

cards go from zero to ninety nine

To make it clear — we have been giving out quite a lot of Devcon souvenir cards (Virgil was literally throwing them in the air at his talk on day zero) at zero cost — it is only the special Peepeth cards that require a payment.

We have put a token on each card which can be transferred to your peepeth account’s address. Once there it offers you certain privileges similar to those offered in the crowdfunding. You can find details on the special peepeth page.

You can see the contract at https://etherscan.io/address/0xa4fd99a29b331d16305a1ff88fbfdfd30ba2a5d2#code

Payment uses the buyCard function. The one parameter is a keccak256 hash of a phrase that you can use to prove that it was you when you find me to collect your card.

Those who know me are aware that my web three skills are close to zero and it was all done pretty fast but as long as my coding holds up you will be able to pay for a card at https://daveappleton.github.io/d4peep real soon now.

Virgil (thrower of cards) and your’s truly

You can collect the card from me as long as you can prove it is you (hence the hash). You may notice that I do not look much like my medium profile picture.

About ether cards

A year or so ago, Nick (multiple sub tags) Johnson started ether cards as an easy way to distribute ether and tokens in a physical form. They have been on sale at MyEtherWallet and MyCrypto and given out at various events.

Nick became a victim of his own success in leading the ENS group and felt he was unable to give ether cards his full attention, so after a quick conversation Akomba are carrying on the good work and intend to take ether cards in the direction that Nick would be happy with.
